What is the best "do it all" AVR to be paired with a PS3? Don't know too much about these new audio formats. thanks in advance..

Hey, taxman. There are a number of good choices, and the "best" one depends on your preferences, your budget, and which specific features you want.

Do you have a budget for this? There are some great receivers in the $350-$500 range. Some that come to mind are the Yamaha RX-V663, Onkyo TX-SR606, and the Pioneer VSX-1018AH.

If you do a search on this forum for those units (or even PS3), you will come across a few threads that specifically address features of these receivers.

I can recommend that as well. I really like my 661 and the PS3. It does everything I'd need it to. No need to spend more really.

Any of the receivers that Adam mentioned are good for PS3 but they all sound pretty much the same. Your speakers are what will set your system apart from the norm....In essence your speakers are the most important part of your system.....Good Luck with your search.......

I too have a Yamaha 663 and it mates with my PS3 quite well. The credit goes to PS3 rather than the AVR3 because PS3 itself is a technological marvel that can upscale to 1080p quite well, output in PCM which is the digital output that deals with the dueling DOlby/DTS formal. I recommend the Yammy for its price/performance sweetspot to mate with your PS3.
