I used the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 for a couple years, it was alright. If your budget is about $400, and forgive me if someone mentioned this already since I did not read all of the posts, have you considered a cheap stereo receiver and a pair of decent quality bookshelf speakers? That is what I have now and am very very happy with my setup. Retail on what I have is about $300, but if you pick up used you can probably get a smoking set for that price. Just a thought.

well..you see..
i am an international student so i might move out anytime..so i don't want to have a complicated sound system..but it can also produce good sound so that i wont get bored hahahaha :)
So..anything that is easy to set up but can produce high quality of sound is perfect for me :)

Pretty much anything presents a better value than Bose other than white van speakers. Bang for buck there are almost infinite amounts of things better than Bose. Are durabrand $10 speakers going to sound better than Bose?, No, but they've got better value. Are the AudioEngine speakers going to sound better than Bose?, definitely, and they are less expensive too.:D

I believe I have purchased those same speakers at one point. I modified the subwoofer (got a lot more extension out of it. Since it had speaker clip terminals I decided to connect difference speakers in their place.:D

I think they were # 1121 or something ike that. I got 'em last fall in Corpus Christi and keep 'em at my step-sons house in College Station, Texas and use 'em to play our MP3 and CD player when we stay there, which is at least twice a year. Gotta have my music when we travel. Surprisingly effective at filling the room with decent sound for what they are.

...I don't think they have clips, though, All 3.5" mini-plugs.

Bookshelves with a decent amp. Swans, KEFs, Paradigms.

Or powered monitors. PSB, Swans, Yammy.

Logi systems are meant to play loud, not clean or clear. Very muddy bass, but plenty of volume.

ProMedia 2.1 is nice, better quality sound than comparably priced Logis. Probably the best performance in that $ range ($100-150).

As a Klipsch fan myself, I will definitely go with the ProMedia 2.1.

I've owned these in the past and they gave me a warm feeling every time I listened to them. I simply love the horn tech speaker design of Klipsch. Nice big midrange driver for all your warm mids and vocals etc. and separate tweeters for higher end sound. The bass is also not boomy and muddy like the Logicrap... err Logitech speakers and is meant to go down low, deep and clean :D

For $150, you cannot get anything better. I recommend Klipsch!

Klipsch had a ProMedia 4.2 system, it's basically two 2.1 systems together and custom designed to fit each other etc. It has been discontinued though...
