Wait just a minute... isn't it so that some of the Behringer speakers are active speakers with built in amps? Doesn't that mean that he may be able to bypass buying an amp all together?
I wouldn't recommend buying the active Behringers. The internal amps aren't up to the task.

What would you guys say about the Berhinger's vs Audioengine 5?

Soves my problem of amp and price would be around the same.

You think the Audioengine 5's are really that nice?
I have AudioEngine5's and Behringer 2031P's. I have never had them in the same room and A-B'ed them. However both have great sound for the cost.
I use the AE5's when I travel and they do a pretty good job of filling a hotel room (sometimes at mid day I'll crank them just to enjoy what a great sound they make) not LOUD, but room-filling.
I would say both of the speakers sound very similar, but the AE5's can't touch the bass performance of the 2031P!
If you got the AE5's and this, you'd have a pretty good setup without having to buy an amp.

However, check to see what it takes to integrate a third party sub into the AE5 system.
