Thanks guys, I realized that after I saw Mike's response. What a dummy.
Anyway, I did the swap last night. I gotta add that there was a little black ground wire on mine that must have been attached to the chassis somewhere when I took the cover off. Luckily I noticed the little black wire not connected to anything when I was putting the amp back together. I had no idea where to re-connect it, but it didn't seem like you could attach it to any of the screws that hold the cover on, because of course you have to put the cover back on BEFORE you can start putting the screws back in. So I connected it to the "shroud" that goes between the fan and the heat sink tunnel.
Needless to say this was not correct. When I tried plugging in the amp to test the new fan, I got a cool shot of sparks coming out of the new fan. I completely killed the poor little thing. Luckily, I had bought 2 fans, just in case. So when I connected the second new fan, I sandwiched the ground wire between the top cover and back panel of the amp and held it in place while I screwed that panel together.
This time when I turned the amp on, I got a nice quiet fan. I haven't hooked the amp up to any speakers yet, so hopefully I didn't fry anything in the amp when I improperly grounded it. But at least the fan's quiet now.
