I imagine the real differences are the amount of work Emotiva put in the gain/bias stage for starters

Behringer is despised by most their peers because most of their product is a copy cat design of some other engineering firm that actually had to put $$ into R&D.

I am not aware of any Behringer product that isn't a clone of some other product. Again, I would like to hear something like the A500 compared to the UPA-2.
Better hope Wmax doesn't see that he'll have a fit.

Copying designs is quite common practice for many companies(very annoying), but amps are pretty standard. I think the most annoying thing is the lack of a 12v trigger.

Clownfish,

You have some Vintage equipment. The JBLs were 1988-1992 and were rated at up to 200 watts. JBLs used to be very good speakers so I am guessing nominal impedance of 8ohms and average sensitivity ( 90dB).

If the Kenwood receiver (1992)still works I would use it, it is rated at 130 watts per channel (in stereo only mode, otherwise 80 watts per channel) and should easily drive the speakers. However it only has RCA left/right analog input and no sub or LFE out.

Here is an online copy of your Kenwood manual

I just wanted to say "thanks again" for providing a link to the Kenwood owners manual. I'll print it out, and save the link.

I don't know how you found all of that information, but I'm glad you did. It will be very helpful.

My guess - Google. :) Seriously, there's is a lot of information that can be found with some quick internet searches. My thanks also to njedpx3 for looking that all up and posting it here.

Kenwood has links to many of its owner's manuals on its website. If you go to the U.S. website, mouse over the "Support" menu and select the "Home Electronics" tab, it will take you to the main support page for home electronics. From there, click the "Owner's Manuals" link on the left side, and then select your product from the drop down menu that appears over to the right.
