I know a bit about Audio equipment, but nothing about Home Theater.
I would like to start setting up a Home Theater system. Can I use parts of my Audio set up for the H. T. set up?
I currently have a Mcintosh C34V pre-amp & Mcintosh 7200 Amp with a pair of speakers.

Any info would appreciate.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't or shouldn't start with the gear you have. Nothing wrong with starting out with a solid 2.0 or 2.1 setup for movies and working your way up to a full 5.1, 6.1/7.1 setup, though since you have started off with a good setup, it will likely be a more select process finding subsequent gear that will stand up as well as the 2ch gear does. I guess that depends on what speakers you have and whether or not they offer a full range that you can easily expand into (center, surrounds, rear surrounds). Subs are easy - plenty of good choices there. Pre/pro with full capabilities that is still musical? Might take some looking. Amps - just get more of them :)

What brand and model are your speakers? If they're as good as your pre and amp they would do fine for your right and left if you go 5.1|7.1 provided you can get complimentary center and surrounds. As for your pre and pro you could use them as the basis for a component system and add matching pre-amps, amps and sub(s) as j_garcia said - depends on how much you wanna spend and if you can find complementary components to what you have. It would be easier (and probably cheaper) to get a quality AVR and use your speakers for R&L.

The Speakers are Ess Heil AMT 10. They're very bassy and I thought of using as the bass or sub woofers Till I get something else.

Most loudspeakers are incapable of producing the types of LFE that movies use.

This is because many movies use special effects in the lowest audible ranges and even in the subsonic range.

Nothing wrong with those speakers!!:D:D:cool: See my sig.:D You definitely need a separate sub for a better HT experience.

Yes - those are VERY nice speakers. You may have a time finding complimentary speakers if you use them for your R&L in a home theater setup - same with your pre and amp. You may want to add a surround system and keep your stereo gear for listening to music.
