Bear Grylls is an idiot.

Seriously? Cause I have the complete opposite view. Survivorman, with his matrix pan shots and glamour angles seems to be more about him looking cool and being a filmographer (of his favorite subject, himself).

Remember that snake episode where he wrestled the fake anaconda while the camera strobed all around him doing freeze frames... omg I almost died laughing.

Bear at least has SAS experience and admits that he consults locally before each show. The reason he jumps into ice is to demo (as I recall he clearly stated in that episode) what to do if you FELL in... He's not advocating jumping in. He's also not dumb enough to demo falling in with your clothes on since he'd die... lol.

Bear is cool, but it's still ultimately television.
yeah but drinking your own piss. I still can't get over that. I love both shows. I think survival is pretty innate though. We lived in the wilderness for centuries. Once you get off the sugar and caffeine deprivation you'll be okay.

this reminds me of an episode of Gomer Pyle.

I think you're confusing Survivorman with Austin Stevens, Snakemaster. I agree, that guy is a complete tool.
