Why do you hate to be the one to say it? If they are crap I won't be offended, it's my first setup ever. Maybe I'll get it better the second time around. You're probably right about the mains, I guess I thought it wouldn't matter with the cross set at 80. They are Klipsch RB-51's I didn't know what to buy for the mains, I knew that I really liked the Klipsch RSX-4's for surrounds, because of the handy base, then bought the others from there.

I tried the sub in the corner at the end of my room
and got a similar response to this, but it's so far away, and sounded less detailed.
Is that graph the same for its current location, in the center of that long wall?
That suck out at about 45 Hz is a big one to make up.
Have you tried to place the sub next to the couch? Perhaps just to graph it there?

The graph was taken with the sub in the location to the right of the TV in it's current location in the photo's.

Also I'd like to hear more about how you would setup and run a sub for midbass.

I hate to be the one who says it but your mains may be part of the issue here. I doubt they have the headroom needed in a room as big as yours and lack that punch in the 60-80hz range.
If I switched to the Klipsch RB-61 mains would that do it? Or the RB-81's?

If not are there any bookshelves that will give me what I'm looking for without going to floorstanders at competitve prices?

I am not saying your speakers suck as I have never heard them and I don't have your ears. I am simply saying that I big room is going to require a big speaker to give you that impact you are looking for.

I don't know of any small speaker that can compete with a good tower. I too wanted a sleeker look and tried to use a very good bookshelf but it never gave me what I was looking for and I blew a few woofers trying to make it.

After going back and looking at your room again, a pair of towers would look better in there than the wall-hung speakers.

Why would you want to do that? What FR band does it need to cover? How about the current speakers midband?
