I am building a dedicated music room. I have a back wall that is 17’ long by 8’ high. My idea is to glue 1” of normal building insulation on the wall. Next I propose to hang two 4’ by 12’ by 1/2” thick Sheetrock from the ceiling with rope. One will be above the other giving me 8’ by 12’ coverage just in front of the back wall (separated by the 1” of fluffy pink insulation) These 2 panels will touch the insulation but will not be coupled to the walls, ceiling or the wall that it is hanging in front of. I thought this might do a nice job attenuating the lowest frequencies. What are your thoughts?

Depending on the 'need' bass trapping starts with the corners of the room.

You gave us your back wall dimensions , more is needed........overall room dimensions , how far off the back wall is your listening position, etc
