I have a mitsubishi projector hooked up to my receiver and computer. I was wondering how to get the basic local channels? What do I need for this, a tv box or antenna? There is an S-video in on the projector but not sure if thats what would be used or not.

Please always include a make/model number for your products to get the best results.

If I had a PC which was a primary source, I would likely get a over the air tuner for the projector if I wanted really basic service.

Otherwise, I would do what almost everyone else does, and get a HD cable box/satellite receiver with (or without) DVR service for ultimate performance and hook it up via HDMI to the projector.

You can also get an hdtv tuner for around 150. Though I have no personal experience with them.

The projector itself wont know what to do with the raw antenna signal. You have to have something in the middle decoding the signal and allowing you to change channels etc. Been a while since I've even used one but a real simple low tech solution might be to use a VCR. PLug the coax cable coming off the antenna into the "Cable In" on the back of the VCR and run the yellow RCA plug from one of the "Video Out" red, white, and yellow plugs to the yellow "Video In" on the projector. Then send the red and white RCA from the same "out " on the VCR to your receiver for audio.

Option 2 would be run all three red, white, yellow to the reciever. And then the single yellow RCA from the reciever to the projector.

The S-Video can be used in-place of the yellow RCA with debatable gains in quality. Still gotta use the red & white audio though.

The tuner works well. Especially on hd channels. The sound kinda stink on old channels, but I can't wait to watch the game on this!
