Bang & Olufsen Beogram 7000

I found a person selling one of these turntables locally with a FM/AM tuner and a cassette player. They are also throwing in the Beovox S75 speakers on metal stands. I have been searching thrift stores with no luck and I think this might be the only thing available. I have found someone selling a Vector Research table as well as one labeled "Denmark". The person has no idea what the model number is. Is the Bang & Olufsen Beogram 7000 a good player?

I like the B&O equiment, a lot. Their stuff is generally designed as part of an integrated system and it looks like the Beogram 7000 is no exception. With luck, this would come with some kind of remote or a Beolink 7000 to give you full functionality. http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=305

The person is asking $450. Is that a fair price or do you think I should lowball? Also I am told the cartridges are overpriced.

From what I have seen of Beo products, while they were usually very good, they are more concerned with quirky sleek design than pure performance. If it's not completely functional you will probably be on your own to fix it. On the other hand, it's got a cassette player....If you like the design, and it works well, you could do worse

bang & olufsen make some great audio components. that would be a great little system those speakers rock! price seems really fair especially if the turntable has a stylus with it. good luck, ron
