Banana Plug Install Help

I'm installing banana plugs for the first time. Do you double or triple the wire over before screwing down on it? I know I read a short "how to" article on this website recently. I just can't seem to find it again.
Thanks

What gauge wire are you using? You should not have to do that.

you might need to double it if gage 16 or higher in some plugs. be careful none sticks out from the insulation. :)

I would recommend using 14AWG or better. Or, If it is an easy run, just upgrade later if possible.

I believe the gauge to be 14. Maybe even 12 gauge. I'm not completely sure because it is many years old and it doesn't say on the wire itself.
Thanks

What banana plug are you using?

The typical AR plugs from BB won't take 12 AWG. Most good after market plugs should handle 10 AWG with no problem. If you are using the later, you'll need to serve the stripped end of the wire - evenly wrap it in 24 AWG wire until it fits the plug of choice. Then tin the ends with solder so that the serving will not seperate fron the speaker wire.

Do Not fold the wire back on itself.
