I have recently got a new system! 300W 8ohm PA amplifier and some custom made 2.5 way floorstanders! Audio is output from lineout on 5.1 soundcard on PC!

Does anyone know what could be that crackle/background hum when everything is at min volume? Is it electronic noise from PC, coud it be my skytec amp? Possible solutions?

If you get the noise when the volume is at it's minimum setting, it's definitely the amplifier. Not much you can do about it except sending it out to a tech to see if it can be fixed. IMNSHO, it's not worth it.

This is a new amp! Should I complain and take it back as fault or should this be expected? make do with slight anoyance?

It may just be doing it's job.

PA amps are designed to provide sound to speakrs designed to blanket an area with intelligible sound, not for used in home systems with fancy speakers.

It's also possible that those speakers have a high-end tilt which will accentuate the amps noise factor.

Slap on a couple of 70 volt transformers and PA speakers in a large area and I'll bet the problem goes away.

But, it could have a problem. Call your provider.
