So i am currently driving a slightly modified 03' VW Golf TDI and just got my first tank of B100 yesterday. I have been running a blend for awhile now but have moved up to the strong stuff. Anyone else running bioD?
FYI the mods on my car are strictly performance. 130hp 225ft-lb 45-50mpg!

Well I drove VW for the last 6 years. A couple of weeks ago I traded my Jetta in for a Honda Pilot. So now my wife and I both drive Honda.

Always buy VW's and Audi's with warranties, because you'll spend more time in the shop than on the road. Many have major electrical problems. Great cars, and ride beautifully, but German engineering never got the electronics right.

We've put 41,00 miles on our '03 Pilot. My only qualms are the driver seat doesn't go back far enough, and the second row seats aren't adjustable (they've fixed that on the newer Pilots). Also, there is a brake clanking issue when you start out. I think the caliper clanking quit after 30,000 miles or so. Nevertheless, this is our 5th Honda, and there is no doubt they are the best cars in the world for reliability. You just can't beat a Honda. My F150 is a pile of junk compared to the Honda's we've owned.

Toyota/Lexus IMO is a distant second. Family/friends have owned Camry's/ES300's and all went back to Honda/Acura. My brother owns a '99 Passat, and said it was the worst purchase he's ever made. My sister bought a 2004 Passat, and finally traded it in for a Odyssey EX-L. Too many issues and dealership runs.

So you agree that the Pilot is fast? Ours is an 03' aswell. made it to 180 in no time.

Our Pilot is an 06 and so far I am very pleased with it. We wanted something bigger.. the Jetta just wasn't cutting it size wise. My wife has an 06 Accord EX (her 3rd honda) and she won't shop for any other brand.

I have owned fords in the past and I will never buy one again! I bought a brand new Ranger and I had it in the shop 8 times in the first 6 months. I traded it in for an Explorer and it had so many recalls it was hard to keep up with them.

No biggie does not seem like anyone here drives diesels.

VW: A problem waiting to happen.
While I agree that VW's have issues but the TDI's are a different beast. They can still have electric issues but the motors are wonderful. I will smoke your honda any day of the week and still get 50mpg on 100% soy-esters.

Ignorance is bliss.

When does your Golf stop pulling? What speed?

ok lets break it down:

Your Dad's Pilot(these nubers are for a 05) vs MY 03 Golf TDI w/upgraded nozzles and RC2 chip upgrade:

Curb weight: Pilot= 4431 lb Pilot= 1.51X heavier
Golf= 2932 lb

HP: Pilot= 255HP Pilot= 1.96X more HP
Golf= 130HP

Torque: Pilot= 250 ft-lb Pilot= 1.11X more torque
Golf= 225 ft-lb

Power Breakdown

Pilot weight/HP = 17.38 weight/torque= 17.72
Golf weight/HP = 22.55 weight/torque= 13.03

So you will beat me at 90 on the highway but in most driving situations your dad's car is toast off the line. Also if it is a 03 not an 05 it has 15 less HP while only being 7lb lighter as well as less torque. Top speed is not my cars thing and diesels do not like to be redline'd. I would let anyone take the Pepsi challenge of which car was more fun to drive anyday. Oh yeah and I still get 50mpg:D

The '03 Pilot does 15.9 in the quarter. Although that is respectable, it's not a rocket. But neither are most stock VW's. This is like arguing what is more fattening, the whopper or big mac.

BTW, according to Car and Driver's road test digest, the stock GTI does 14.9, while the Jetta TDI does 17.6 in the quarter. The stock Passat does 14.3 and whips everyones tail. :eek: The Accord V6 loses slightly at 14.5.

I agree but just to be clear I drive a modded Golf TDI with 44% more horsepower and 45% more torque then stock
