So my wife's uncle came over to visit after dinner today. No, not the idiot one who wanted to grab and touch all my speakers. Thank god. This uncle is an audiophile like the rest of us. Total respect for the gears. He wanted to listen to the 802D2 and Salon2.
So we did a single subject, single-blinded informal study.
Speaker 1 = B&W
Speaker 2 = Revel
After going back and forth listening to some violin and piano classical pieces for 30 minutes, he concluded that speaker 1 were better. He said Speaker 2 sounded "warmer" to him, and speaker 1 sounded more neutral and more "dynamic".
I was a little surprised. Last Christmas, he told me my Salon2 were the best speakers he had ever heard, sounding extremely "dynamic" and "neutral".
What does this mean? Most likely absolutely insignificant. I'm thinking it's a case of "Any Given Sunday". Come this Thanksgiving, he would probably pick the Salon2 over the 802D2.
