Go for the 601 at least, and then only if it's a small room. 602 if you can afford it. The 600 are meant for rear surrounds more than anything. Excellent speakers - I am a big fan, but you should definitely check out the other options out there - don't buy them just because you heard B&W is good. Listen to lots of speakers within your budget before you buy anything.

I have a pair of DM603 S3's, and I'm very happy with them.

Go 601!

I would most defiantly go with the 601s, simply based on the lower frequency response. This will allow you more flexibility in crossover points if you chose to pair them with a sub. It will also insure a more linear frequency response if you choose to cross them over that standard 80Hz. The front port on the 601s also allow for more placement options as opposed to the rear port on the 600s.

But like kay said, listen before you buy. There are a lot options out there at this price point. Buy based on your ears, not others opinions.

Happy listening!

It all depends what you're planning on powering them with. It's my experience that the 602s are power hungry. I would suggest you look into proper amplification for these, if not, I would consider something else.

I'm guessing you're getting a good deal on them? I ditched my old 602s for a pair of Axiom Audio M22ti(s) which sounded much more detailed.

I'm not trying to knock B&W - just provide some options for you.

Both of those should be fine. Don't worry too much about wattage with either of them especially if your receiver pumps out up to 100 watts. Unless you're buying the 800 series the wattage won't be that much of an issue. I'm running the 604's off of a Yami 1400 and they sound find eventhough they are in a bright acoustical room. I haven't had a chance to put anything on the walls yet and it is a 12 x 17 room. Usually, I try to listen in the -20's to the mid - teens. At that level I still don't think I'm using all the wattage from my receiver. As everyone has stated, don't forget to listen to some of the other brands. PSB, Totem, JM Focal and Paradigm to name a few.
