Hello Everyone,
Getting ready to set up my 603 s2's as l/r fronts (along with lcr600 center and 600 rears). Currently I have a Yammy rv-v861 - looking for people's opinions on if that receiver is enough to adequately drive the speakers. I've been reading reviews that seemed to indicate the sound quality improved with more/better amplification. Thanks.

IMO, that depends on whether or not you have issues with achieving the sound levels you are after now. If they don't sound strained, then I don't think an amp is going to dramatically improve your sound. Having said that, decent external amps will pretty much always have much greater power reserves than a receiver.

Gracias. Now here I go with my non-sensical follow-up.

I am looking to slowly upgrade my system, and after each new addition trying to figure oout the best bang for the buck at each interval. I like my video, I think I like my speakers (I also have a B&W asw300 sub in addition to what I listed above). I guess I'm looking for my "weakest link" on the audio side, so I can focus on that next. Or are my components now pretty much "equal" (at the same level) and I would need to upgrade everything to recognize any notable improvements.

I know it's subjective, but if anyone sees an obvious next step for upgrading, I'd sure appreciate the input. Thanks.

I have a pair of B&W DM603 s3s as my main front left and right speakers and an LCR600 s3 as my center channel. I have NHT 1.3As as my surrounds. Plus a crappy subwoofer not worth mentioning (it's my next upgrade).

I've bi-wired and bi-amped the 603s and push the whole lot with a Pioneer Elite receiver that has 130 wpc... or is it 120 wpc??? I forget.

Anyhow, I have a pretty large listening room (my family room, kitchen, and dining area are essentially one large room that's open to the rest of the house). Anyhow, with the exception of the LFEs, I can use this rig to hit some pretty intense volumes, and they sound crystal clear and gorgeous.

I like having the power, but I have a big room. How big is your room? Sorry if you already stated how big it was.

My B&Ws have a sensitivity rating of around 89 db. But that's another thing to consider. Yours are rated a bit more sensitive at 90 db, so that's okay.

I'm no pro on here, BUT I know what I like and what sounds good even though I dont have the vocabulary to alwasy explain it. (hence why I'm here reading) that being said I have speakers(NHT 2.5i's) that I keep thinking I want to upgrade(considering b&w's) but everytime I add power I fall in love with my nht's all over again.. and I just cant imagine getting better sound without spending alot more money. so in my opinion adding power is never a bad thing :)

I know my NHTs aren't quite in the same league as yours, but I believe I understand how you can fall in love all over again with them. Mine are about 18 years old and they still sound awesome - although now they're my back/surround channels.

Still, when I upgraded to the B&W 603s and LCR600 in front.... man, what a difference!!!!
