B&W ASW2500 suddenly died

Hi

I have a lightly used B&W ASW2500 subwoofer that I bought from new. Worked beautifully for years but it has suddenly gone silent. The fuse is fine and the standby LED goes from red to green when I turn on the amp (same amp I have used for years). The sub is completely silent. If I touch the input cable to try and generate some hum, I get nothing at all.

Our property does lose power a few times a year and I'm thinking perhaps its the power bouncing around that may have weakened/blown something.

Any suggestions? Any thoughts on where to get it repaired? I am in Northern NJ.

Thanks.

First place to start would be a B&W dealer since they have the direct lines to repair facilities and B&W. You can possibly get the info from them and take care of it yourself, or usually manufacturers will just send you a replacement amp since it is almost 100% likely an amp failure. If it is within warranty or is a known issue (longshot, but possible as some mfg have longer warranties) that amp could be free.

Thanks. Just got this from B&W support "To determine if the problem is the amp or the woofer the woofer should be removed and tested. you can connect one of your speaker wires direct to the woofer to test to see if it is still operating. you can also bring it to a local repair shop to have them test the woofer as well. if the problem is the woofer we do have replacements available for purchase at the link below. if the woofer is still good and the problem is the amp then you will want to find a local electronics repair shop to have them try to repair the unit. we are unfortunately unable to service this model as we are no longer able to get parts but we do have one shop we typically recommend that has worked with these amps before. contact info below. "
Doesn't look like I'll be getting anything for free..!

That's what they told my friend when his JBL died too. Since the amps were prone to failure, they stopped making them and sent him a small credit toward a new sub from them.
