B&W 704 vs. SVS MTS-01

I demoed B&Ws in the 600 range and the 700 range before purchasing my Dali's. The 700 series was absolutely worth whatever upgrade cost over the 600 series if you were stuck on getting that brand. To me, the 600's had recessed highs and very little bass. The 700's completely changed that, although the CM series were also very close in performance (to the 700's). Just my two cents-B&W does make good speakers, but you might have to pay a little more to get into their really good stuff!

Interesting. The exact, diametric opposite of my experience. I felt that going from 600s to 700s was a total waste of money, and would recommend the 600s to anyone looking at B&W.

The cerebral cortex interprets sound different in each individual. Females have a higher sensitivity for spoken language. Sound is also interpreted differently in right and left hemisphere dominate individuals. This accounts for at least some of the differences we hear. Take a friend/girlfriend/wife with you when you audition. If you can both agree on one set, then you’ve found your speaker.

If you are going to get B&W in the 700's, I'd strongly recomend the 703's, or the CM7's. For me, and many others I believe, the FST midrange driver brings A LOT to the table that is missing from the 704's. The 704's are, I believe, the least popular of the 7 series.

When I was making this comparison I ended up with Rockets on order.

SVS is OVERRATED across the board, go with B&W's w/o a doubt.
I doubt if you have ever even listened to them than with such a broad post as this, i have never read anything even close to that on any review or anyone who has SVS SUB or the MTS or any of their products.
