Hi all,
In my searching through local classifieds, etc., etc., looking for a good deal on a subwoofer, I came across a set of older AV123 Rockets: RS 750 Sig mains, RSC 200 center, and 4 RSS 300 Dipole surrounds. Cost is $600.00, but these are a few model revisions behind what AV123 is offering now.
I have Axioms M22's, 2 QS4's and a VP150 center. I got a very good deal on these.
I could probably sell the Axioms for what it would cost for the Rockets, but I don't know if it would be a smart move. My (first) system is set up now, but it's still kind in kind of a temporary state, waiting to get the TV mounted on the wall so I can make the wiring semi-permanent and move the stand/cabinet to where it needs to be--so I haven't done any speaker equalization or placement experimentation yet. That said, the Axioms see a little bright and maybe a little less full-ranged than I would like.
If the Rockets are a really good buy I wouldn't mind getting them and having my own little battle of the speakers and pick the one I liked best and selling the other.
Other than overall power/quality the big difference here is there are 4 surrounds with the Rockets as opposed to the two QS4's. I haven't seen the Rockets in person, but they look to have a very nice "Macassar Ebony" finish too. I did read in one of the forums that there some vast improvements made to the Rockets after the 750's, so there also might be something to consider there.
Obviously I can't resist a "bargain" but I have to know what a bargain is.
