What do you guys think? Is the performance difference between the RTi Polk series and the Axiom Epic 80 that great to spend almost another 2k?

Wow, $2000 more? The RTi series are extremely well built speakers. I have taken them apart. The magnets on the mids and woofers are as large as the drivers themselves! I don't know if I'd pay $2000 more for the Axioms. I've never put them side by side. The Axioms, if they do sound better, can't be by much. Like I said earlier, if you do go with the Polk, get a high end receiver with a solid power supply. You'll need the guts to get them going, but if you do, I doubt the $2000 extra expenditure will even make a difference. $2000 is a lot of dough, and the RTi line initself is a pretty costly line of speakers. Did you compare the retail of the RTi to the Axiom?

Moreso for video than audio

Is the HK 7300 a big step above the 7200? The 7200 was generally panned as one of the worst digital receivers out there.
The 7300 adds DCDi by Faroudja image processing which upconverts all inputs to high-resolution component video. The 7200 was one of the top receivers of its day and was highly rated. These units are approaching 60lbs. That's one heck of a power supply.

never once did I read what type of music you like to listen to, how much home theater, and if you prefer a bright sound over warm etc.I could be blind though :)

Just asking which one is better on the internet is impossible to get an answer that suits you best.

For example. I hate warm sounding speakers. Lots of midrange, no clear highs, lack detail, and muddy bass. This is how I would classify the monitor series that I heard. Although, i did not hear the monitor 11's or 90p's.

The studios are more comparable to the Axiom 80/60's. They are a very nice, detailed speaker, and the amount of bass the dual 6.5" drivers put out is quite amazing. When it comes to music, I don't feel the need to have a sub most times. But for home theater, I did buy an hsu vtf3-mkii but I like lots of bass.

By the way, I own the 80's. I never heard a paradigm monitor speaker that impressed me as much as the Axiom's. They also have more finishes available vs the monitor line. But, the studio's have a really nice finish as well.

we listen to pop, top 40, rock, alternative, rap, techno, some country etc in this house, and they speakers do well with all of them.
