It's time to upgrade from the HTIB cubes I've got now.

My living room is rather large, 23'x21' - It has a large archway into the dining room as well as a large cutout into the kitchen along the right side (21'). The left side is nearly all sliding glass doors (21'). The Front and rear wall are solid (23'). The ceiling is also high, I'd estimate 10' in the rear to 12' in the front.

My budget is $2k. Here's what I'm thinking from Axiom:
- M60 x 2 Fronts
- VP150 Center
- EP350 Sub

I can get this shipped through their factory outlet for $1941.

My question is whether this setup will be powerful enough for the large room. Also, my reciever is rather old - Pioneer VSX-D711. Would I be better off just getting the fronts and upgrading the reciever for now?

That Axiom setup you described above will handle a large room and then some! It will sound amazing for music and home theatre.

Email or call Axiom audio and talk to one of their audio specialists about a setup for your room. Their customer service is one of the best!

Looks like that will be a nice set-up.

Upgrading speakers typically improve you system more than upgrading your receiver, especially considering you are coming from HTiB speakers. Unless you are looking to upgrade your receiver for a specific reason, I would look to replacing your speakers first.

The only thing I would look at would be replacing the sub with one from a different company. Not that Axiom subs aren’t great but for the same price you could get something from eD, Epik, or the new MFW-15 (if you’re willing to wait). Aesthetically it wouldn’t match as well as the EP-350 but from what I have read you would be getting more performance for you money.

Best of luck in your upgrade.

You get a 10 percent discount if you buy 5 or more speakers. Why don't you get a couple QS8's.

I think your receiver will be fine.

Speaker options

Nice axiom speakers. They should be a major upgrade from an HTIB system.

Another vote for the AV123 MFW-15 sub for $600. Get one with real wood veneer for $100 more.
