ok, as the title suggests, which way would you go? For $1,200, there are some nice subs out there. The Axiom EP 500v2 seems to be an Audioholic favorite according to this review: http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/speakers/subwoofers/axiom-ep500/

However, it's not magnetically shielded. An SVS +/2 is similarly priced and seems to have a bit more impact. So, what's your vote? And tell me why. I'd appreciate some insight. Thanks

I didnt know any sub was magnetically shielded; that really doesnt matter unless you have an old school TV. Either sub would be ok but I would go with SVS.

I wish I could give you an informed answer but not having heard the Axiom I can't. All I can say is that I love my Plus/2. It's kinda cool when friends ask why I would ever bother going to a theater with a rig like mine. :D

I'm with sholling. I've never heard an Axiom sub, but I can say that I love my SVS. I'll bet it would be hard to go wrong with either.

Not very fair comparing the cheapest black finish on the SVS to the wood veneer finish on the Axiom is it ;)

I think this would be the same as asking which is more fun to drive, a Ferrari F50 or a Lamborghini Murcielago. You will be more than impressed either way.

You could say the same thing about not being fair to Axiom. Not fair that the SVS has dual drivers, larger enclosure, 900 watt amp.

Even with CRT Tvs, it may not matter unless the sub is right next to it.

There is a range within which it does matter to a CRT. My PB-10 was about 2ft away and did not affect it, but any less than that and you could start to see a little discoloration.

I love my plus/2. Only have it a 1/3 of the way up.To scared to go any higher
in my 1200 sp ft room. Just go with the SVS so you never have to ask yourself what if.

Well, 2 ft is right next to it:D 1ft to center of sub and 1ft to the electron gun and focusing rings. :D
It might even shake the tv off the stand:D

The standard finishes from Axiom are vinyl. You can get a custom finish and real wood veneer for about $300 more.

Yeah, I had to keep my old KLH towers about 2 feet away from my CRT TV when I had one. For a JL 13w7 car sub (before I put it in my car), I couldn't get any closer than 4 feet or so, though, hehe.

Hey, I just saw that SVS has 'Overstock Pricing' on the PB12-Plus in any finish except textured black for $799! I know this is not the plus/2 but that's still a good price especially for the nice finish options. Or I could pick up 2 PB12 Pluses for $1499! I think I'm leaning that way now.:D

Of course, if getting 2, I think the plus/2 would be a better deal wouldn't it? Less shipping and pretty close performance isn't it? Also, for $1499, i could get the Ultra. would the Ultra be a better deal than 2 plusses. i know it would probably go a little lower
