Just an FYI for all others

Speakers no longer for sale
You need to inform the thread that the speakers are no longer for sale because you decided not to sell them at all, not give the possible impression that they were gone (as in sold), that you reached a good faith agreement with some one and then balked.

At the very least you could apologize to the classified thread participants for any hassles you put them through.

I am not angry, just a bit peeved at getting the run around.

I gave all the necessary information. I do not have to disclose what happened to my speakers.

As fo "the hassle" I was the only one getting hassled.

I had a deal set. The money order was suposedly on its way, when the buyer suddenly decided to go out of contact for two weeks and not send the money order.

Then there are people like you, constantly hassling me with low-ball offers.

For those who had real offers, that didnt work out for whatever reason, im sorry.

But they where few, and I dont think it is necessary to explain to the rest why i decided to end the sale.

I guess a your definition of 'REAL OFFER' is getting more for them used than you pay for them new, LOL.

LOW BALL? Hello? drive a $1085 dollar car off the lot, sell it a 1 1/2 years later and see what kind of hit you are going to take.

What happened to you sir is that you got found out. I was smart enough to do a little bit of research and find out what that setup was worth. Also I was fortunate enough to find out what you paid. The offer wasn't low ball, it was FAIR. Why do you think you weren't selling them at the $1000 mark? How thick can you be?

Asking a ridiculous $1500 for something that you paid $1085 for? Do you take every one here for fools?

For everyone's information: Dan and I couldn't come to an agreement. I wished him the best of luck in selling them and parted ways. He was the one that came back looking for me, check his post where he apologized for being a jerk and said he would sell. Ya I hassled him with a 60 second phone call.

Man, you are a trip. At least everyone has a measure of the type of person you are.

First off, what i paid for them is irrelevant. What if I had found them at a garage sale for a dollar? Would you expect me to sell them for .50$?

I spent a great deal of time and energy finding deals, that allowed me to buy the stereo so cheap.

I never expected to sell for 1500$ i expected to sell for 900-1000$, i put the 1500$ out there as a feeler. Despite what prices I managed to find, The axioms go for 2200$ new (check their site for the upgraded finish), and the HK goes for 450$, and im not sure what the going price of the H100 is, but it is sure to be around 200$.

Yes 700$ is a low ball. Speakers are not cars...... They have only a fraction of the moving parts a car does, and are basically maintinance free. You cannot even put the two in the same ballpark.

The only reason i was going to sell, was because i was desperate. The move out date for my dorms was looming ever closer, and i had no meens of transporting them home.

You had me in a corner, i had to sell them. I was desperate enough to accept your offer. When i found a way out you where "peeved" that i had put you through such an ordeal. (a 60 second phone call and two posts on audioholics)

As for the phone call, i am truly sorry if i came off as a jerk. I had a final in less than an hour, and i had to make a 92 to get an A in the class.

I dont take anyone here to be a fool. I have sold many things online, and I have found the best strategy is to start off posting high, and then go down to what i originally wanted. If i had posted them for 900$ originally, i would have been getting 5-700$ offers.

I think the disparity here is that we dont agree on what price is "fair." In my opinion i think 900$ is fair. You thought anything above 700$ for 2800$ worth of equiptment was an outrage.

Yeah i found a better way out than your offer, and i took it. What type of person does that make me Mark?

It makes you the type of person that didn't say:

Hey sorry guys/gals. I have not decided to sell my speakers after all. Sorry for leading any of you on or agreeing and then backing out, hope you understand.

By the way Dan, you aren't the only one that can find a deal. Ubid for the Receiver and Sub and the version one Axiom m80's on clearance. Your not the only deal monger on audioholics. Outside of your post I found what the version 1 Axioms went for on clearance. Just like some of the SVS subs are right now, a good 15-20% below what they usually sold for.

What makes you think I or any one else can't bide my time and pull a deal together also?

What stuff went for at market has EVERY thing to do with resale, regardless of what you paid, $.50 or $5000. That is why you didn't move yours.

I was willing to pay used prices on what I know they went for. Again, you denigrate the average intelligence of the forum members.

Ask a stereo shop what they would have given you? Guess what 30% of current market value.

Enjoy your speakers.

It is "discussions" like this which have me question whether or not we should even have a classified section. You two feel free to take it to email (which you obviously have) or PM. Either way, this thread is closed. Any more talk on this subject (which will do no one any good at this point) will result in a ban.
