AVR5803A Upgrade? D-Link 3rd?

I have a 5803 and I am contemplating the upgrade. For only $100 it seems to be well worth it. I must now ask the dumb question....The upgrade gives you D-Link 3rd. I understand this is a port for the transmission on digital signals, BUT...Will this only interface with a Denon source unit? Are there other digital players out there that offer this output? If so, do they not have to be SACD/DVD-A players since the receiver would process the signal? Any help is appreciated and hopefully I don't look like to much of a 'tard. Thanks

Denon Link only works with Denon products that have it, hence the name. :)

Sounds like a good excuse to go pick up a Denon 2910 or 3910

The 2910 doesn't have Denon Link unfortunately.

Oh, good call, 3910 is going for what $1500 or so, just tell ur wife that it will cause less clutter b/c u only need one cable for audio and not a bunch for digital and the DVD-A or SACD cables

I have the 5803A and 3910. The Denon link passes the signals for DVD-video and DVD-audio. The 5803 does the decoding automatically. Denon link was also approved to pass SACD but according to Denon it will take a while before they can send the upgrades on the 3910. There is another feature if it is important to that you will get after the upgrade, PLIIx. Good luck.
