I would like to set up my AVR (Yamaha HTR-5990) so the kids can listen to TV through headphones instead of the speakers.
There's a headphone jack, and I have a reducer so normal mini-plug headphones can connect. When headphones are plugged in, the AVR turns off the speakers and sends output to the headphones. Perfect, right?
But what I really want is the ability to do exactly that via remote control -- the AVR is in a cabinet.
The unit can amplify audio for multiple zones -- is there any reason I couldn't hook the headphones up to the second zone, switch off the master zone and switch on the second zone? Will I overpower and blow my headphones?
Other ideas?
