AVR 255 harman kardon Quality Issues

I bought AVR 255 harman kardon receiver in Sep 2009. I and my wife occasionally play it over the weekends when we have some time for 2 ~3 hrs as both of us are working professionals and we travel a lot.. Just a few weeks before, the receiver suddenly stopped working. Permanently in stand by mode (amber light is on). It is not the protective mode... PERMANENT STAND BY condition.... I removed all the speaker connection and tried to switch on.. still same.. I took it to HK's authorized service center for repairing.. what I was told that the front Input board is spoiled due to wear and tear..WEAR & TEAR ???.... We might have hardly used it for 200hrs.. Anyway I got a quote that it'll cost me $300 to repair.. I feel like being conned....

Harman Kardon's quality sucks.. Some of my friends were interested to got for it; but after my experience they're not very keen to bet on HK brand..

I'm thinking whether I should repair it or switch to a new one (of course other brand)..

Sush.

Why are they charging you for repair? HK receivers carry a 2-year warranty so you should be covered till September 2011. Did you try calling HK corporate?

Hi Benj,

Then this strange. In Singapore the warranty covers only for one yr. How can they have double standard ..
