Hi All,
I have a 3yr old AVM60 which seemingly refuses to perform ARC equalization. I'm not sure how long this has been the case, but I recently picked up REW and a UMIK-1 and have confirmed with frequency sweeps that enabling ARC only affects bass management and overall levels. There is no EQ happening.
The unit is on the latest firmware, and I have also tried the beta firmware that's out there. ARC Genesis is also on the latest regular build. I haven't tried the beta there since it shouldn't be needed for the 60, and there appear to be a lot of problems reported with it. I've run ARC Genesis on auto mode, as well as tried many permutations of settings in professional mode. I can see that it is doing something - if for instance I change the max EQ frequency for a channel, the point at which ARC adjusts the levels will change accordingly. The curves however do not change, and the system is doing nothing to get things towards the desired flatter response.
The curve viewer in Genesis shows the software calculating a proper correction curve. I tried generating a correction curve for my center channel through REW and found it came up with a very similar EQ curve, so it seems the ARC software is at least doing that part properly. Uploading REW's curve to my miniDSP and retesting shows the speaker and room respond properly to that correction curve and the response is flattened out. Best I can tell there is no reason this shouldn't be working.
I have contacted Anthem support repeatedly but have not gotten a response back. I'm going to call them later today and see if I can get a human on the phone. There is a report from a user on another forum with the same issue on an AVM70, and I wanted to see if anyone here had any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks much,
Endaar
