I was originally sold on a new PB12-plus, but for 500$ less I can get an MFW-15 and I'm starting to look that way. Anybody have experiences with both? Room is 12x19x8. Fairly open on one side.

It might be hard to find somebody who has had both. I know SVS makes great stuff and they have a strong fan base around here. I have the MFW and I can't say enough good stuff about it. I personally would go MFW but I am biased.

I don't think you can really go wrong with either of those chioces. Both very nice subs and I doubt you'd be disappointed. The plus will give you a bit more output though.

I was going to suggest for a $200 more that you could go with dual MFW's...but after reading through what Matt put up regarding problems I would say definitely stick with the SVS and you won't be dissapointed...

In most cases, you get what you pay for in. Both AV123 and SVS are fairly priced :D

I have experience with the new PB12-plus and it is awesome!

Will you really get more output from the plus? I guess I could see that in the lower teen Hrz but anything from 19Hrz and up I would expect AV123 to perform better. I have mine in a very large room and even one I only use one of them it really amazes me with how much it hits. I admit, I never used an SVS Plus sub so I can't directly compare.

I would lean towards the SVS being they have a distributor in Canada. Reason being if you ever have any problems with the MFW, shipping back and forth could get very expensive.

Might want to read up on some of the issues the MFW is having.

Matt is right to point you to the problems the MFW is having. I'm a fanboy, but that is because I received two MFWs with no issues. I feel bad for the folks that ran into problems. In AV123's defense, most fixes are quick and easy. On the other hand, there are many many customers like myself that received MFWs without any issues. It's a gamble but one I would be willing to take again.

You make a good point. I suppose this may have to do with the type of playback material. On paper it does look like the SVS has a more powerful amp, but I suppose real world performance could vary....oh screw it, just pick up an Ultra and be done with it. :D

Yeah, go with the ultra and you will never have to wonder what if.

For the record, I don't ever wonder "what if". I know I received a great product and I firmly believe it is a stellar product. I will caveat what I say that I might have felt differently if I had ran into some of the issues folks have been reporting, but I was lucky enough to recieve a product from AV123 with out any defects.

I hate to see the MFW be dismissed do to the issues being reported...but I can't say I blame anybody for wanting to avoid a potential hassle.
