What is the best receiver for under $1K?? I would like it to be 1.4 compatible since I just purchased a Samsung PN50C7000 plasma 3D TV. I will use it 50%movies 50%music. I am going to use all in ceiling speakers & a powered sub. I would also like it to have HD capability on the 2nd zone & ipod/iphone compatibility.

Marantz sr5005

And if you wanted, you could tack on an XPA-3 etc later for a big time power boost, not that you would really need it.

There are lots of choices. Onky's TX-NR808 should be on your list and so should some of Denon's products.

I think it's safe to say Onkyo is very highly thought of on several AV forums. And there's a very good reason for that. They're among the best in their market. But I've had 3 different Yamahas and I think they sound as good as, are designed and built as good as anything in their price range, and they usually have very competitive features. Certainly consider an Onkyo...but don't overlook the Yammies. They make darn good products too.

Onkyo excellent also for $549

4 HDMI and no network? I think I'd rather get http://www.jr.com/onkyo/pe/ONK_TXNR7...TZxsfCi25rIISg

Very few need the network....but you are right, the Yamaha 1900 virtually the same as 3900 without networking...and better basic amp than Onkyo...I would buy it without HDMI as I still see no compelling reason to run video through any receiver and chance degredation....

I already ran wires thru the walls. It has to be 3D compatible. My max is $1500. Suggestions?

So what happens when those cables become old technology a couple of years down the road?.....no need to pay a premium for fast changing technology when you can wire direct from source to TV... 3D technology is in state of flux and what receivers offer today may be useless tomorrow...
