Hi guys my name's Ray and im from Sydney Australia and i was just wondering if I could ask gene for some advice or fellow members on a product I own a Yamaha Rxv1900 in regards to its pre out voltage which according to the manual is 1volt and also a new power amplifier im looking into upgrading to a monolith 7.
My question is will my reviever have enough output voltage wise to drive a decent signal to a monolith 7x power amplifier? Cheers

Is that 1 volt pre amp output value a minimum, maximum, or nominal value? Ask Yamaha what the pre amp voltage output range is for that AVR. I suspect it goes higher than 1 volt, but you should ask Yamaha.

Monoprice's amp has an input sensitivity (for full rated power) of 1.6 volts. That's a minimum input voltage.

The preouts of any receiver driving an amplifier will vary the voltage depending on the volume level you set the receiver to. So, while it may claim 1v, it is going to vary up and down depending on the volume level that you have the receiver set to. This is the most typical way that most receivers work, so you shouldn't have any issues using it with any amplifier.

I would expect the 1 volt to be a 0dB value, and likely the receiver can go +10dB or so, which will raise that voltage by quite a bit. Likewise, it will go to -80dB or so, dropping that voltage. That's how volume control works.

There are no issues at all, as far as I know, with using any industry standard A/V receiver with any industry standard amplifier. Both of which, these are.

My Yamaha RX-A3050 also lists the output at 1V/470ohms. I use a 2-channel amp to power rear Atmos speakers and it works great.

I tried to find a bench test for that aspect but didn't find one....Yamaha hopefully can reassure you. I certainly wish manuals had better specs on the pre-outs, tho.
