Ok... so I was thinking... and reading this thread

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?p=227580#post227580

I am assuming the device he talks about is a 12v relay...

What I need is a device that turns the tv off when its in a still position for a long time.

I was think, that if their is no sound for X amount of minutes... then their probably is no video motion. Which would make for a very interesting device.

I was wondering if someone builds something like this, or that works on a different but better idea then mine...

PS: the above Idea has been Copyrighted and Patented by Mike G Parisi 2006... Anyone starts a company with the above idea will owe me allot of money.... hahahahaha

I don't like the idea of suddenly cutting the power to a running plasma TV. When you turn it off with the remote, it goes through its own shutdown procedure. Cutting the power may also cause you to lose settings and presets.

I think this sort of idea would have to be built into the TV itself.

Some DVD players start a screensaver if it is on pause for a while. Computers definitely have the screensaver activated (if set up) via inactivity. Indeed, TV's themselves have screenavers. The need for said device should deminish as more products have screensaver function.

That would be nice, but im worried about my HTPC screen saver getting disabled by the DVD playing software, because it disables it so that you dont get interupted. Their two stupid it enable it on pause, and sometimes it perminately disables it, so that you got to go reset it up.

I want to make sure that NO MATER WHAT, a computer game, computer crash, etc will black out the screen. The problem is that their are so many different inputs, and I dont think the Plasma is smart enough to recognize a still image.
