Just played an auro 3d demo on my Onkyo tx nr 656 just to see what'd happen, it defaulted to DTS neural X, but interestingly enough, all of the sounds in the demo that are placed overhead actually come from the top middle speakers in my setup. The receiver obviously is not compatible with Auro, but it appears to work, this leads me to believe that unlike atmos, which is discretely derived by way of object processing, that it's simply matrixed into the 5.1 mix. Any ideas on whether this is true or not?
