I experimented with a piece of scrap (a very nice piece of scrap mind you) carpet folded over and placed under my center speaker which sits on a wooden shelf under the plasma. No big difference, but the Studio 20s are pretty bright all by themselves and it was just carpet not the special acoustical stuff mentioned in this thread. It was worth a try.

Don't expect a night and day difference. The extent of its effectiveness is dependent on how resonant the cabinet you have your speakers on top of as well as the speaker cabinets themselves. In my case, my speaker cabinets are an extremely inert, but the cabinet they are placed on top of isn't. Most of the benefit was having the ability to properly pitch the speakers towards the listeners and eliminate any energy transfer to the hollow cabinet I had the speakers on top of.

I'm ordering mopads for the center!

A little off topic. Any chance of seeing other auralex products reviewed? Like the lenrd bass traps or some of the wall treatments. They seem reasonably priced and easy DIY with "O.K." looks. If they work well.

I searched the forum with nothing good hitting. I hope I did not miss an old article on the main site or mention of something on the way.

I'm sure someone will be delighted to point out my ignorance.

Gene will have TONS of their products to discuss once his room is completed. Look for that in the next month or so if I'm not advancing his schedule too quickly on him...

MoPad Alternatives (low-fi)

I realize I'm grave digging, but I think it can relevant to this thread.

After another yesterday's critical evaluation of my JBLs I realized that maybe the tiny rubber legs on them are not efficient as far as acoustic isolation... 4x Mopad cost almost $45 and many mentioned on other forums that they are simple cuts from high quality foam with stickers :D

Someone suggested to use mouse pads - I decided to experiment - I put two staples mouse pads under monitors - listening to same tracks I think unless I got tricked by placebo effect I do hear improvements in clearer mids..... Still they need to a sub to shine with - playing 50hz and below is not their specialty

p.s: I'd wish I could compare side by side mine vs Behringer TRUTH B3030A

I've used various 2-3" packing foam to do the same thing. That being said, I have 4 sets of MoPads :) And I removed the stickers.
