Audyssey set up on my AVR-X2700H ... Advice needed.

Hi all, Terry here from Toronto Canada and I’m a big fan of audioholics here. I am finally building my home theatre system and now I’m just waiting for my AVR-X2700H to come in but in the meantime I’m doing some homework on the audyssey set up. I have my centre, left ft and right ft all in wall, now below LF I have an in-wall sub and below RF there is a in-wall sub, both subs are passive. I also have my left and right rear surround bookshelf speakers as well as a L & R top middle in the ceiling. My question is that because my subs are passive I am using a Dayton Audio SA230 amp to drive them via my pre out on my Denon...can you advise me on the amp assign set up for my scenario ? Thank you in advance.

As the sub's amp still uses the sub pre-out it won't matter to the avr or Audyssey that it's not a plate amp on a sub. The time it would matter is if you would try to power the sub with the avr directly.....that wouldn't work for a coupla reasons :). Amp assign would be pretty much any of them that accommodate your main zone setup.

How were you planning to do it? That's the only way I would do it, feeding your sub amp the line out from the avr's pre-out.....

My plan was to connect the amp to my pre out zone2 on my denon receiver

Okay. No reason to use zone 2 at all (except for another room where you actually want speakers). Use the sub pre-out, just pick the amp assign that works best for your choice of main and zone setups. The pre-out is live in any setting. This allows you to use not only Audyssey (not possible if you used zone 2) as well as use bass management that the avr (and Audyssey) bring.

Sub 1 and sub 2 pre-outs on the 2700 are identical, but likely the avr brain thinks 1 should be used if you don't use both (its basically an internal splitter on this avr model). Your sub amp have dual inputs? You could use both, but no real reason for the second cable really as the sub pre-outs are mono. Or are you trying for some sort of "stereo" sub setup? I wouldn't find that worthwhile myself.

So are you suggesting to connect my amp LFE to sub1 on my denon right.

Good luck! Have only used Audyssey with typical box speakers/subs, so curious how well that works for ya!
