heard about heat problems so I got a Marantz 8002 instead
However, the Onkyo 905 is awesome
; how do you like it ?
Sounds like a nice AVR room and the extension of the Audissey microphone shouldn't have any effect.
Thank you all.
I really like the Onkyo 905 so far. It seems to pair well with the PSB speakers. This is my first dedicated HT system and so far, I'm extremely happy with the choices I've made. Pink Floyd has never sounded so good
and movie soundtracks are so much more revealing. BTW, the PSB 6i sub is pretty awesome as well. Very flexible for music and movies, never muddy or distorted. Plus, it offers more bass than the CFO can handle...
I was already expecting heat buildup from the PS3 once I planned to move the electronics into the closet. So, the additional heat from the receiver was a non-issue. From the outset I had planned to vent the closet but, I'm just now getting around to it. You can see the solution I'm working on here:

Thus far, the fans inside the 905 have only come on once that I'm aware of. While it is hot, it seems to have no effect on the performance/reproduction quality of audio or video. The additional features like HD Radio and networking capabilities are very cool.
My main concern with using the extension cable, especially given its length, was a potential issue with signal timing. Sounds like it shouldn't be a problem though.
