hey guys , i bought a pair of , what the guy claimed to be "Vivid 995" vintage speakers . i can't find any real information , other than what i have gathered myself .
i know for a fact that they arent touring speakers , or DJ speakers , by any stretch . however , the 12" woofer that they came with (being vintage , of course it had foam rot) , has a DJ style in build and performance . i have not found anything online about the cabinet or driver . all of the information i have is what i have gained from testing myself . the driver seems to be capable of handling 200 watts . the driver reads at 3.9 ohm impedance while the cabinet reads a 3.7 ohm load
i have since replaced the Audiosphere woofers with some JL Audio W3V2 .. ? something like that . 200 watt @ 4 ohms , single voice coil .
if anyone has any further knowledge about Audiosphere woofers or the older Vivid audio stuff , i would love to hear about it
other than that , this is here to have some sort of information about these towers and drivers
I have noticed , however , when i was listening to them with the Audiosphere woofers , they did not hit the really low frequencies (as expected) , but did perform well in the 55hz+ range . they are definately not meant for small rooms , but not extremely large ones either . the absolute worst part was that the voice coil would hit the back of the magnet before the spider and surrounds were at their maximum excursion .
