Your $6 Red Cat will taste even better if you use a $250 Riedel decanter and $25 glasses. (I like the 'O' line).
Will this work with Thunderbird, Tiger Rose and MD 20/20?

Recently my attention was brought to a wine magnet a master wine taster is making to improve the taste of cheap wine. Let me emphasize that this is an intelligent magnet as it only works on the cheap stuff, less than $10. The makers makes this claim
uhh. you might burn me on the stake on this for not trying 20 times in a double blind test but ...

I had the chance to sample the SAME wine in 2 different glasses ... it tasted better on only 1 of them (of course it was the very expensive glass). everybody had 1-2 chances to try (single blind test - we didn't know which glass was which) there were 6 of us.

OK, how did the scores of the 6 come out?:D

6 people could pick out the glass each and every time ... both through the sense of smell and taste.

golden nose and tongue? :)

Riedel made a limited series of opaque black wine glasses, just for blind taste-testing. Supposedly some die-hard oneophiles can't tell a red from a white without a clear glass.

Maybe it was all that lead in the glass that had the smell:D

Studies have shown that the palates of professional wine tasters and reviewers are no better than any old novice off the street. They've even been fooled by colouring white wine red.... Seems like it's not only Audiophiles that fall foul of perception bias.

I certainly can tell the difference between a quality crystal glass and a cheap mass produced one from Ikea - weight, texture and the quality of the cut will do it. Aren't we able to perceive down to as little as 1/1000th of an inch?

Does glass have a smell? ;)

Shape of the glass can make a big difference in wine tasting. When you buy Riedel you are mostly paying for a name but you can get similar stemware for a fraction of the price.

I have to admit something...

When I first saw this clock I laughed and knew it was BS but something deep inside said, why not give it a try?

Now someone who spent 50 grand on a stereo system and is trying to track down some minor imperfection in their sound would probally not hesitate for a second. They are reduced to looking for something magical.

Ok... I feel better now.

I have a good test for that:D

Change a $100 bill into $1 bills, 100 of them;)
Have someone count out 50 in one stack, 49 in the other, band it, mark it and compare them:D Without counting;)

Does glass have a smell? ;)

Don't know. Maybe it has a taste when liquids such as wine are in it and interacts?

I scooped out several brilliant pebbles from my cat's litter box this morning-do you think there is a market for them? How's this for a marketing pitch: "If you place them directly behind the primary listening position, they have the effect of moving the soundstage closer to the listener" (or the listener closer to the soundstage, to be more precise!). They even come in several custom sizes and textures for optimum placement and decorating applications. The best part is that there is an inexhaustible supply, and the overhead and manufacturing costs are ultra low-maybe I could offer franchises! Operators are standing by....
It's worth a try :p
