Audio Video Connection for Dummies

I intend to buy a Sony HT-CT 100 Soundbar Speaker System, but am uncertain how to hook it up to my other 2 components, a Samsung HP-T4254 plasma tv & a Samsung 1080P8 DVD. Right now, I have the DVD connected to the tv via an HDMI cable, which works great, except for the suckey sound from the tv. There's a bunch of hook up slots on the back of the soundbar subwoofer, but I'm at a loss as to visualize "what goes where".

could you describe what kind of connections it says... does that subwoofer also work as the amplifier do you know?? my guess would be that you could connect everything in to the inputs on the sub if it has such a setup and then have the out go to your tv... if it does not have a hdmi the optical would be best for the sound from your dvd player but again it depends on what the sub has for connections... hope this helps a little at least! :-D

The Sony system has all the electronics in the sub. It has 3 HDMI inputs in and 1 out (to tv).

It also has optical & rca inputs (maybe outputs).

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

You can download the instruction manual from Sony at this link here. Page 9 shows a good diagram of how to hook up your DVD player and TV to your new (on the way) sound system.

Just let us know if you have any questions once you take a look at that.

I checked out the instructions. My real confusion was where to run the DVD HDMI cable, as there is only one (output) on this DVD. The instructions clearly show the DVD is connected direct to the soundbar sub, which solves my confusion. Again, thanks for the help. This appears to be a very good forum for info exchange.
