Boy this Cd gives your speakers a workout, it is perfect to use to breakin your speakers...it will provide a tone starting at 20hz all the way up to 20khz but you wont be able to here anything above 14.5khz, well at least I couldn't..I use this on the Acoustictec and the Venturi line....

Thanks for the pointer :) I made my own test CD by downloading a free trial based tone generator which allowed to save the tones in mp3 format. I created individual tones from 20Hz to 20KHz and a frequency sweep up and down for the entire range and a freq sweep just for the subwoofer.
Can you here the tone above 14k....I am in my mid 40s and I lost the tone between 14k and 15k...?

Im limited around there as well myself. :)
I guess i will gather my kids and run the scan and see if they can hear any higher than I can...both speaker systems are rated above 21k....

one thing to remember at those frequencies is that the speaker should be doing a lot more beaming of the frequency. If a 14kHz frequency is something like 24mm long, everything is going to be rather directional (from what I understand of these things).

I just made a test cd, and had a listen on my lil work desktop speakers (onkyo CR-N1 HIFI!!!! system using D-N1 onkyo HIFI!!! speakers). I went all the way out to 21kHz (and boy did that hurt), but in the end had to align my ear directly with the tweeter. Still, good to know that I can hear it and my lil work speakers can do it.

So, you may be able to hear more than you think.

Great info, there still maybe hope for me...I was in the middle of the room as well when I was running the test..By the way it was pretty wild on lower freqs watching the speakers going in and out and the air they produce from the ports...I will give it another try when I get home later today...it's movie night as well so I will have the whole family to enjoy the tones :).....

I have downloaded the files (testcd.bin, testcd.cue)

I was able to copy to a CD-RW with the same file type. But it appears that is not the solution.

I did download the free trial based tone generator but I don't have a clue what to do with it!

I have an Oppo DVD player that also supports DivX.

I have a Blu-Ray player that supports MP3

Can you help?

By the way, I have Magic ISO (which enabled me to copy the bin and cue files to CD), and I have Nero.

...would really appreciate a response.
I can't do anything here from work. I'll try and look at my pc to see if I still have the executable. I did this 3 or so years ago and I can't remember which tool I used.

Thanks in advance for your time.
Download a program called virtual daemon manager install, i use ver 4.08 or 4.09.
Then, load it once computer reboots and install is done.
Click the red lightning bolt, go to virtual cd/dvd rom
then mount an image by pointing the directory to the CUE file. poof
you have a filly working cd, sort of. Open the "Virtual drive load the files up in Windows media, rip the files using windows media. I just did this rip for the first time tonight so it taint hard to figure out.
it will rip the audio files to WAV files.then you can burn em (you could burn using cue/bin but might be easier to explain this way because now you have the raw wav's to do with as you will.
I ended up putting the wav in my music dir for the sever, so my receiver can play them.

I could not hear over file 55 and barely if at all 55 might have been my imagination it was so low to me. and I had to point my ear at the speaker in a funky way just to hear anything from file 53 or higher.
The pops will be there so like it says be careful with the volume.

I've given up on the *bin, *cue conversion to CD-DA.

If one of you, with a working "testcd" file already on CD, would be willing to transfer that finalized file to me, it can be done over MSN messenger. I've recently received and transmitted a movie this way and that was a much bigger file. The file can be zipped.

We need to be on MSN messenger or Windows Live Messenger to do this. The member can send me a PM with his messenger username, I will reply and provide my username and open up a session.

I'll be ready tomorrow Friday, anytime.
