Read more closely-I said it doesn't matter what speaker wire you buy as long as it is of sufficient guage (so the resistance is low enough that you don't have losses). I could care less how much your speaker wire costs-$1 to $2 per foot isn't outrageous, it's really not too bad at all. I'm not suggesting you spend $.16/ft either. What I'm trying to get at is, unless you need to feel like you have the "best", "coolest", etc. wire, there's no good reason to buy something like Audioquest, Nordost, etc...or even Monster for that matter. It's all higher priced than what you can get from BJC, Monoprice, Parts Express, etc...even Rat Shack. What I think is dumb is some people paying $3k for a pair of 6ft speaker wires...I'm just trying to give the OP some reasonable cost suggestions. You mentioned that speaker wire was the weakest part of his system...that usually leads into esoteric wire discussions. Such expensive items often deter people from wanting to get into this hobby.
On a side note-if you have the money to blow and are happy with everything else in your system, by all means, by expensive, kick @$$ looking cables and revel in your superiority. It may not "sound" any better, but it'll look nicer than what I have, no doubt
