LOL, def not going to happen. I haven't decided on the face plate, but the sides and back will probably match the sub. Looks to be red burl.

Ok, made a thread in the DIY section with some more pics. Will update the build process there.

Do they have the network capablity, for some reason I like that ability.
The Yamaha RX-A1000 is the lowest model from last years line that has the network connectivity. I believe in the current line even the 710 has an ethernet port, but not preouts. They start on the 810.

I am leaning towards the Yamaha RX V871. Thats if I go the Yamaha route. I am still going to search the other great brands as well, but for the price the Yamaha seems pretty stacked with extras for around $800.

Yep, I am a reef dork. I had a 270 full blown reef. Loved it, but it sucks to move it, especially twice.
Tell me about it. I had to move my 115 gal FOWLR twice in 3 years. Thankfully never had to move the 120 SPS setup, except to load it into someone else's truck to haul away.

If you're able to build the CBT36's, building your own subs will be a piece of cake!:D
Have you seen Don's plans!!!

They are, without question, the best DIY plans I've ever seen.

Ever detail is descibed. Even how to strip the wires and the length to an 1/8"!!!

LOL

He even colour codes all the hookup wire LOL

uhh...

I've never seen anything like it!

Your budget is far better than mine. I would love to be able to purchase that DEQX as I really dont hear too many good things about Behringer.

I believe they are still the designing stages with that center but should be pretty awesome when its done. I will probably just try and pick up a third cbt36 if I am able too, but if not will continue searching for one that can be heard.

For subs I have not decided yet, but will probably stick to what Grant has told me here. He is much more knowledgable than me and I have no problem admitting that.

Are you going to be putting them together yourself? Christmas is a long time away, or is this an overdue present. He really married into the right family.
Here are two active xovers that are relatively inexpensive and should work well with CBT36.

If I get these speakers I think I'm going to use an XM 240 with two classD Audio SDS-254s or a couple Bruno's nCores.

I went with the DCX2496. Don recommended it and his instructions shows how to set them up with this one exactly. I may upgrade down the road, but this will work for now. Sooner or later I will finish this project, but have been super busy with some volunteer work.
