The nice thing about these is that they are custom measure and fit. I can take some photos of our bedroom that have these and they do give a very close fit to the edge. What I am bummed about is that they have a much more limited number of color choices then from when we ordered ours. Mine are a chocolate brown color and I don't see anything like that any longer. I'm going to get the model number from mine and give them a call tomorrow.
I am sure they are a great application, and I really do believe everything you say.

I just want Soundman to know that it's still going to be compromise in all likelihood, for ANY leakage of light equals poorer PQ and possibly distraction from the experience as well.

I am NOT saying that is not the perfect choice for him. Everything is a compromise, and I'm sure it would be nice to open the windows now and then to air it out.

However, for every bit of additional ambient light do we lost contrast at an exponential rate.

Thanks you guys. I would like to see some more pics and see what color choices there are. They may not be perfect, but I suppose I could add curtains later if they do not work well enough. But I know they should work tons better then the other blinds in my house. It definitely looks worth considering. I'd like to get more info on them.

Ok here are some pics of the blackout ones from our bedroom.

Shade up:

Light leakage: (this is with the flash off and I cropped the photo try and show it)

I will say after looking closely that I would want curtains around the edge at least like we have. The curtains hanging like that blocks what little light is coming in.

Its kind of tough to take a picture of a dark room. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the pics! That gives me a pretty good idea. Long term, I may need to add curtains, but these should do the trick for now. Currently, the only thing I have in the windows are some blankets hung up for privacy reasons. This project will be completed in 3 phases and will evolve as funds come in. Currently, in phase 1, I'm working on getting things organized and working properly. I will be using a DLP RPTV and this is why light control will not be as critical right now. I will add a projector in due time and move the DLP to a game room. I will try to update this post as things evolve.
