I have a Marantz AV7702 and I want to go 7.1 as currently I use and add 4 overhead speakers, my room is 13x24 but only 7ft tall that research says isnt "ideal" but that's life, having said that is it better to install flush mount ceiling speakers or bounce the audio off ceiling from a wall mounted speaker? I do undersrand my performance may be compromised over some theaters but I still want to proceed I have all amps and gear I just need to know what speaker configuration I should look at. for the ATMOS surrounds, Thanks all.

It's going to be a real toss up IMO, I'll assume that the room is long and not wide, with that in mind some height speakers may work (not if the room is wide) if you had some old speakers and some boxes around at least you could experiment with heights and some different positions. (Fronts, Rears even middles slightly behind the MLP labeled TM or TR) if you went with in-ceiling you'd want as wide of a dispersion as possible maybe even angle-able tweeters (to adjust where they fire as needed)

I use all height and think it works pretty well as an alternative to in-ceiling, but to be fair I have 9' ceilings and I don't know how much that plays in to the effect, but I'd absolutely choose them over Atmos enabled if that's what you were thinking.

Thanks, yes room is in long configuration and I'm not buying "atmos " speakers I'll go budget just to test the waters. Any chance I could pick your brain via phone sometime? Thanks again
