Rich, if I were you I wouldn't walk under any ladders, you seem to have the worst luck with your AV Gear. ;)
- Defective Marantz AV8801
- Defective Parasound
- Outlaw 7500 scratched

At least Parasound took care of your problem quickly, but jebus, you have had a bad run as of late.
You forgot the defective humming ATI amp that was sent back a few weeks ago.

And the Outlaw 7500 had to be sent to repair in the first place BEFORE it got scratched upon return.

ATI checked the ATI3005 that I send back and they said that some hum could be detected in their carpeted room but it was so low that it was not considered a problem.
It is fair to say that they all hum to some degree and the larger the transformer the more hum.
My open-shelf Credenza is on a wood floor with a wall in back so it could have beamed at me.

Parasound encases their transformers in epoxy to mitigate this problem.
The 7500 has smaller transformers than the ATI3000 and it can be heard with your ear placed on it.
The A51 seems to be between the 7500 and ATI3000 in transformer size but it is quieter than the 7500.
I can barely detect hum with my ear pressed against the amp. There is also likely unit to unit variance.

It has been interesting trying these amps and, so far, I have preserved my back. :)
I used to be reticent to ship things that weighed as much as these amps, but now I am used to it.

$2600 USD is a great price if the AT3007 is b-stock like-new and comes w/ warranty.

If you live in the USA, a b-stock AT3007 would be $4200:

ATI AT3007 Seven Channel x 300 Watt Amplifier - B-Stock (120 V) - Amplifiers

So what speakers will you be driving with this Behemoth amp? :D

thanks,
AT3007 is Demo unit, the seller said that and i look like new but not having original box.
In Viet Nam, warranty is zero (ATI haven't dealer there).
Who know Noratel UK LTD made Transformer for ATI Amplifier? i see it on Transfomer in AT3007.

If it's a local purchase and you can try it out to make sure it works perfectly, then that should be great.

MSRP is $6000, so I think $2600 (57% below MSRP) would be reasonable for demo, assuming it is like new.

There is a used AT3007 in the USA for $3,000 (50% below MSRP):
ATI AT3007 perfect condition, like new! | Multi ch | Manahawkin, New Jersey 08050 | AudiogoN - The High-end Audio Community

There is a used AT3003 in eBay USA for ~ $1700 (MSRP $3600, 52% below MSRP).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ATI-Amplifier-Technologies-AT3000-3-channel-amplifier-in-Black-finish-/281140276193?pt=US_Home_Audio_Amplifiers_Preamps&hash=item4175442be1

So $2600 (57% below MSRP) for AT3007 doesn't look so bad. :D

Just to finish the saga, the Outlaw 7500 arrived back from its repair repair.
It sports a new faceplate and a new cover.

This add new meaning to the "Like New" since it has new transformers, caps, cover, faceplate and power switch.
I assume the chassis, feet, boards, and transistors are all original equipment :)

All's well.

Just going through my ATI research I learned some stuff along the way:

The amp is stable at 2 ohms.
Capacitance is 36,000 microfarads per channel.
Transformers are 1.8 kVa
12 output devices per channel--in the TO264 package

At one time, I had an email concerning the Class-A bias of the 3005.
I believe it was 300 MV. Perhaps, a EE can translate that.

The ATI3005 draws about 130 watts at idle.
The Parasound draws about 140 and is Class-A for the first 8 watts or so.
The Outlaw 7500 draws about 70 watts.

Interesting.

What is sitting attop of the ATI3000 amps on the bottom.
Those puppies need to breath.

- Rich
Those ADCOM speaker switch boxes are only about 1 lbs and about 3 inches deep, so there's plenty of space behind that to breathe, plus the backs and sides to breathe.

How you like those switches? I'm guessing pretty nice if you bought 2 and still in the system. Can you link to where you bought those?

I currently just use a setup that lets me swap banana plugs, kind of like the old switch-board, but a speaker selector would be nice.

"The Echo Game" House of Flying Dagger (Shigeru Umebayashi) played a few times at -10 will take those amps to 120+ degrees measured with an optical thermometer. It really gets those Revel woofers moving :)

I was thinking of creating a "How to warm up your amp" thread and this one would be at the top of the list.

Still, I would drop an email to ATI.. ;)

What kind of switch would you need to do A/B amp testing?

I know Bryston makes an amp switch/selector. Salk also makes an amp switch. Russound makes one too.

They look nice, well-built, and does the job without any signal loss.

I bought one brand new from Amazon. That's the one I am actually using.

The other one (bought from eBay) is just for aesthetic to balance things out. :D :D

I do not think I will do this for a while.
But it would be interesting to split the pream outs to both amps and then use a switch to toggle between the amps.
A high-power two channel splitter should work well.

I’ve been researching amplifiers for my next purchase and ATI's AT series definitely look like decent value amps. Very interesting that they OEM for companies like Lexicon and Mark Levinson. It also looks like some of their models are pretty much identical to Outlaw Audio amps, who of course they also OEM for. The AT2005 essentially has the exact same specs as the Outlaw 7500 (slew, capacitance, PSU rating)…dimensions & backplate are similar, both are fully-balanced, and both are made in the US. There's a very good probability they’re identical amps. The thing is, brand new the 7500 is $2,000 cheaper than the AT2005! ($1599 vs. $3,595) ATI comes with a 7 year warranty compared to Outlaw’s 5 year, which to me is negligible. If your amp is running fine for 5 years straight, it’s reasonable to assume it won’t suddenly break down during the next 2.

The AT3007 amp seems to be the same amp as the Outlaw 7900 (the Outlaw is a little more muscular being 20 pounds heavier) but again, huge price difference: $5,995 for the ATI and $3,499 for the Outlaw. So i’m kind of debating…any reason to choose an ATI over an Outlaw considering the price difference?

^^^ Check out http://www.classicaudioparts.com/.
Then, email them or call. I think you'll find you can get in the same range.
They are not exactly the same amps and having owned a Outlaw 7500 and ATI3005, I would pick the ATI.

I'm familiar with that site, I was just comparing what they sell for brand new. Even at their B-stock prices, there's still quite a difference in $. I'm gonna call them next week to see if there's any wiggle room in their prices. I'm also considering Emotiva and Parasound Halo amps.

Another thing that worries me a lil' is that I can't find any detailed analysis or measurements of the ATI amps. They seem to be well regarded however. Kinda leaning towards a used Parasound Halo cause the specs & price are similar but they also look 10x better than the ATI's.
