Since I live in canada and i can get this for CAD$300 or US$263, is this a good buy? I don't want to spend too much on a sub like HSU or SVS. Are there any alternatives with similar pricing?

I also listened to the Velodyne DPS 12 and found the athena to be cleaner. maybe the setting of the velodyne was wrong? shouldn't the velodyne be better?

It's an excellent sub for the price. I don't think you'll find anyone here dissing that unit at that price. Go get it and enjoy!

yeah, i was thinking of picking it up tomorrow and testing it with a 20hz tone. If I don't like it, I can just get a refund...I hope, since it is marked as clearance.

You can always stop by my mouse for a DPS-12 audition. :)

I liked the Athena subs, and that one is a good deal.

I have had the AS-P6000 since December and really like it. Does a fine job, however, I haven't tested it against any other sub than my Quest QS1011:rolleyes:
If you get it, I don't think you will be disappointed.
