Athena AS-B2.2 Issue...

Hey fellas,

I haven't posted in a while as perusing this site was costing me too much money...lol.

For the serious part, I have a set of Athena AS-B2.2's that I have been happy with. My brother in-law and sister were painting my house and they knocked over one of them causing the tweeter to be SEVERLY dented. By severly I mean almost totally inverted. My question is, can I simply order the replacement tweeter assembly, or should I just buy new speakers for my front of room? I can't seem to find the speakers on ebay or anywhere else since Athena is no longer around. Please advise.

A picture would work. Maybe you can pull it out with scotch tape.

Mazer has given you a great way to try to pull it out. If that doesnt work you could replace the tweeter for a very reasonable price.Athena is out of buisness but you can most liely get a tweeter from an online distributer

So...I was able to get it back out for the most part using Gorilla tape. The scotch tape didn't have enough stick. The Gorilla tape is like duct tape on steroids w/out the residue. Good stuff.

There are still several smaller indentations on the dome so I will keep my eye out for a replacement.

Just as long as you didn't pull on it to hard, the tweeter should be fine. Try scotch tape for the smalled dents. Very carefully.

The 1000 dollar question is: how does the tweeter sound? From the looks of your picture it seems like just the cover was pushed in, is that so?

It does seem that only the cover was pushed but I am thinking that it would be tough for the speaker to fall and push the cover in that far w/out actually damaging the tweeter. I will do a sound test on it tomorrow when the pregnant wife isn't sleeping lol...

Klipsch may have discontinued the Athena line, but you can still order replacement parts from them. Their ph# is 866-441-8210. I ordered a
replacement grill for an ASR-1.1 not too long ago.
