At these prices...!

Hello,

I've been able to find some extraordinary prices on high-quality receivers. My question has to do with value. While I'd much prefer to spend $500 or less, for a sufficient value, I'd spend more. In other words, I'd rather spend $600 for an incredible receiver that would normally cost $1800 than $250 for a good receiver that would normally cost $500.

So I'm wondering: Do any of the prices below strike you as such a terrific value that I should leap at the chance to buy?

Here's the list:

1. Onkyo SR604, $260

2. Pioneer 1016TXVK, $280

3. Yamaha 659, $330

4. Onkyo SR674, $380

5. Denon 2307CI, $500

6. Pioneer 82TXS, $560

7. Denon AVR-3806, $560

8. Denon AVR-2807, $630

9. Yamaha RX-V2700, $700

10. Pioneer 84TXSi, $700

#9 and #10 are really good prices where I've been looking. Maybe it is too good to be true. If not, PM me the dealer for those two.

As for number 9 I don't think you will see prices like that in Canada.
As for what you would buy it depends on the features you need or want and if it is particular model specific.
Some people may regard a zone two option as paramount while others may not need this feature,
Home Theatre receivers today are a very feature rich device vs the pricing for the most part.

It depends on the speakers you're driving. My vote goes to the VSX1016 for $280.

i don't know if it's his source, but while looking at these two receivers myself, i came across xbstore.com, which has both for just under $700. however it looks increadibly shady, b/c everything they have is underpriced. such as a xbox 360 premium for $200. they also only accept bank tranfers.

Go to xbstore.com and try to buy something that is under $650 and this comes up.

Your current shopping cart total does not meet our minimum order amount of $650.00. Please return to this page once you have enough items in your shopping cart to meet the minimum order amount.
I am thinking this is a 419 scam or something very close to it.

You can't choose anything other then no. 5, otherwise it's a conflict of interest:D.

As far as the prices go:
1) they fell off the back of a truck;) OR
2) someone is trying to hose you;)!!

XB Store Online

Hi,

I started this thread and yes indeed, most of those prices come from XBStore Online.

I have no idea whether the store is honest. I'd appreciate others' thoughts on that.

If they do require a minimum order of $650, I'd think that makes it more likely the store is honest. Basically, they can afford to give you a bigger discount when you're buying more. If they clear 10% per item, for example, that's $100 on a $700 sale, but only $10 on a $100 sale. The former would be worth it; the latter might not. A lot of stores operate this way.

But again, I'm speculating. The prices are indeed way out of the ballpark. How can we investigate this?

One can be certain there is no warranty. If that is not a problem, then call them. Is there a 800 number provided? If not, I would move on.

Also, let me be clear. I, in no way, recommend buying from an unauthorized dealer.

Let's see. This is your thread so I say you make the buy and then you can report back your experience. Consider it you are paving the way, a pioneer of sorts! :)

PS: As long as you are going to give it shot, go for the Yamaha 2700 ;)

Note the date of the web created. It was only a few days old. It's located in Spain (at least the same address as noted in the web). However, if they require bank transfer/check, it is a high possibility that you'll never see your $$ nor your items you ordered again:D . This kind of scam is very common when you search for a cellphone on sale. The bogus website keeps on coming up with different web name.

Consider yourself warned;) !

You should see some of the cellphone website. One of them is: http://www.discounts-webstore.com (which had been taken down). These websites live only for weeks or months. Then they'll setup new website with similar content. Very convincing.
