Assuming the new Emotiva LMC2 is in my rack...

... would you let that do all the processing of audio and video? It seems that either the player, the pre/pro, or even the TV can do upconverting and surround sound. So which piece of equipment should do what?

This is going to be THE entry level Pre/pro for this year.

Not only does it do audio via 4 HDMI ports, but it decodes True HD and DTS MA. It has the Genesis Torino processor that should be very good.

Yeah, I would let it do everything - audio and video.

I hate that it's considered "entry level." That just rubs me and my ego the wrong way. It seems like such a fine piece of equipment but I hate thinking of it as an "every man's" piece of equipment. It's just the snob in me, but when it comes to this stuff, I like feeling my stuff is higher end... just for my own personal satisfaction. I know this is higher end stuff, and it's just really the price that's entry level, but I'll feel better about buying it if I don't think of it that way.

Yeah, same here. I wish they would release the flagship DMC-2 very soon. Unfortunately, it won't be until probably Winter 2008 or even later.

Umm, it is what it is. Pre-pros don't come this cheap, let alone with the features the LMC2 comes with. Combine it with a good amp, and this "entry level" combo will outclass flagship models.

Entry level or not I would not run video into it unless you need the extra inputs, going straight to the monitor is best so the signal will be as strong and as pure as possible.
