ascend acoustics, what would you do?

i was playing with my tx-nr708 today and in the audyseey setup it wants to go through like 13 speakers. I already have the ascends and was just thinking about buying more to just have that full setup. Has anyone else done this? is it kinda pointless? should I spend money on something more important like fine tuning the acoustics in the house? Just thinking. I feel like spending some money so....

personally i would go with room acoustic treament. this is one thing that improved the sound as much as buying speakers did. those speakers flat response is more then likely all over the graph due to room acoustics.

I think 5.1 is plenty for most rooms but it might help to remind us what you have in your setup. If you have 5 Ascends of one flavor or another then I'd concentrate on optimizing what you have.

I just can't imagine going for more than a 7.1 setup, which, IMO, is more than enough for any HT room though..

Not [13] speakers, [13] microphone positions. More mic positions = better audyssey auto calibration result. (btw: it's not 13 positions, it's only 6 - Limit of 708's MultiEq)
